What to do when facing retrenchment in Malaysia?

Boss ask for VSS in Nov 2022, and job loss?

While seeking new job actually can apply for SIP benefit claim in Malaysia.

Yes.

If you have EIS (Employment Insurance System, Employment Insurance) payment in your monthly paycheck, then you can receive employment insurance subsidies issued by the Malaysian Social Security Organization (PERKESO) when you are unemployed, up to 6 months(according to your eligibility ).

The definition of job loss includes:
  • Elimination of work and duplication
  • VSS/MSS (Voluntary separation scheme by mutual consent)
  • Workplace closures due to natural disasters
  • Bankruptcy or closure of the workplace
  • Disposal of constructive labor
  • Resignation due to sexual harassment or intimidation at work
  • Resignation when ordered to perform work outside the scope that endangers safety
If you eligible under EISyou must meet the following criteria:
Where i will write down some details in the website as below:
Notice Statement

(i)Completed application will be verified by SOCSO officers. Incomplete applications will not be processed and may be rejected.

(ii)Application must be submitted with the following mandatory documents:

e)Applicants with bankruptcy status are required to submit a copy of supporting documents from the Insolvency Department and verified active personal bank account.
f)Copy of letter of employment or contract of service (from the first year until end).

Supporting Documents:

h)Copy of police report (e.g. sexual harassment, threat etc.)
i)Copy of proof of instruction to perform out of scope duties that endangers safety.
j)Others: specify (documents related to the case).

I was very confuse while searching along the website , and found that actually there is 5 type category to claim, you will need to check either one that fit to you :

1-Job Search Allowance (JSA),
2-Reduced Income Allowance (RIA),
3-Training Fee (TF),
4-Training Allowance (TA) and
5-Early Re-employment Allowance, Early Re-employment Allowance, ERA)

(if you like me to share more on details explain this 5 type, do put comment below let me know)

After submit your EIS, remember to start find job as after your claim approve, there will be a pegawai to follow up your case and will invite you for a 1 time meet up to explain on what PERKESO can help you in order to get a job, also PERKESO provide this pegawai to monitor your find job progress.

Bare in mind, only 1st time, the EIS claim will bank in to your bank account provided, you will need to submit proof in the "MyFutureJob" website, so that pegawai can verify whether approve for your next benefit claim.

It simply means, you must show your productivity on searching next job in the portal in order to get 2nd claim, from my pegawai, at least show proof of 10 submission for apply new job. ( that is my personaly experience, it might vary from different individual)

Oh ya, PERKESO provide free training too, for FREE if your EIS approved. Also you will get the Training Fee (TF) if attend fully to the training course you applied.
